Polystyrene packaging are manufactured by tiny polymer molecules that are infused in combination of air to increase their size. These polymers are serviced from petroleum products through some refining and distillation process. After being infused, these small balls can either be used as individuals or can from larger beads or molded in different things such as food packaging or building insulation.
There are available in different sizes i.e. 25mm, 40mm, 70mm, 80mm, 120mm, and 200mm (which are just a fraction smaller than a football). However, polymers can be found in molecules measuring 0/02 inches i.e. 0.5 mm in diameter. Then after passing through a steam that infuses air into them and make them into larger polystyrene balls.
Advantages of polystyrene balls
The most important advantage of polystyrene balls is that they’re strong, durable, and lightweight packaging materials. Some applications in which they are widely used include acting as packaging material, pillows filler, cushions filler, pet beds, beanbag chairs, animals and stuffed toys. They can also be molded to form hard packaging product such as a solid foam casing. They are also used to manufacture polystyrene sheets and are used in disposable cups, and plates by take away restaurants.
